Maria Sigma | Woven Textiles offers a work placement to an enthusiastic individual keen to learn and assist in producing hand-woven samples and products for interiors in her new studio in Athens, Greece.

What you will gain:

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in an emerging textile brand. You will have the opportunity to work on a large floor computerised loom, see how a small textile design business runs, and be part of the whole process of hand-weaving from designing to sampling and production. 

Lunch, snacks, and tea/coffee will be provided.

Internship Details:

Duration: 27 February - 26 April (with flexibility)

Days & Times: 2-5 days per week / flexible hours

Main duties:

- Assisting in setting up the loom (warping, threading)

- Assisting in the production (weaving, hand-stitching, ironing, steaming, etc)

- General aid in the studio (winding yarns, archiving, making swatches) 

- Assisting in preparing & packaging samples/products

- Assisting in the preparations and setting up/down for a trade show/exhibition/workshop

Suitable Candidates should have:

- Enthusiasm about Weaving

- Experienced in weaving (all levels are welcome)

- Passion for creating and exploring new ideas/materials

- Excellent communication and self-expression skills

- Responsible and punctual, capable of meeting deadlines
