Weaving From Waste Workshop
Weaving From Waste Workshop
THURSDAY 1 FEBRUARY 10.00 - 12.30 at MEADOW Stockbridge
Join us at MEADOW for a weaving workshop that will teach you all the basics of frame weaving and how to turn your household waste textiles into textile masterpieces.
The workshop is a 2.5-hour class designed to give students a thorough and intensive
grounding in hand-weaving. You will learn foundational weaving skills, such as warping and basic weaving techniques and patterns, and finishing techniques. The aim of the class is to not only cover a range of styles but also encourage students to develop their own distinctive voice as a weaver. You can make a small wall hanging, pieces for a patchwork, a phone-case or an abstract artwork, and plenty more. Let your imagination run wild!
This event is in collaboration with sustainable knitwear brand navygrey.
The course is suitable for all levels. Limited places.
A small wooden frame loom and weaving tools are provided and for students to take home in a cotton tote bag. Materials and yarns will be also provided, but feel free to bring your own textiles/clothes to recycle - tablecloths, bed sheets, pillowcases, and T-shirts, or materials (yarns, ribbons, strings) you would like to weave with.
